Who's the 'hero' in your Book

http://www.anobii.com/01df57db6798528c4c/books?page=9
The book I'm currently reading is No Escape by Norah McClintock. I believe the hero figure in this book would be Chloe. Chloe is the main character who goes around unraveling the current crimes that are happening in the small town of East Hastings. Chloe is very willing; even when every urge in her body is saying turn around and run she continues on her path until the mystery is solved and justice is served. To me this also illustrates how brave and courageous Chloe is. To help prove how brave Chloe is I got the following quote from my book:"My heart thudded to a stop in my chest. Bang! His fist hammered the window again."

I chose this picture and quote because I feel it represents the evolving character of Chloe (the main character of my book).

Character Archetypes

 http://www.anobii.com/01df57db6798528c4c/books?page=9
I'm currently reading No Escape by Norah McClintock. I chose to my character archetype on Ross the main character's best friend. Because I just started this book and because it's the sixth in the series I'm will be using information from some of the other books to support my theory. I believe Ross is a shape shifter because through out the series he moves from good to evil and to pretty while any other archetype.  In the book Scared to Death, he was following the girl he liked when she was murdered, so it seemed to the main character, Chloe, that he was guilty. At this point he was clearly evil/ the villain; however in the book Break and Enter he believed that Chloe was innocent of all the things everyone else believed she did. At this time he looked somewhat like a hero. In the book Over the Edge I thought he was the mentor because he was helping Chloe learn more about the town when she had just moved there.
Right now in No Escape( the book I'm currently reading) he is holding back information from Chloe so I think he's acting like a shadow. I know he's acting like a shadow because one of the lines in the book  is: "I can always tell when Ross is holding back. A five year-old could figure it out. His eyes darted around the tiny office, looking at everything except me." (pg 55-56, No Escape by Norah McClintock). To me this sounds suspicious and that is what I believe to  be one of the most common characteristics of a shadow. In this particular sentence you can tell that Ross is not the best at being a shadow so I think he will transform throughout the book into one of the archetypes that he is more suited toward (ie. mentor, shape shifter, hero [in his own way]).
